In August 2025, demining units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine cleared 5,973.1 hectares of liberated territory contaminated by explosive remnants of war resulting from Russia’s armed aggression.

According to Ukrinform, the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety said this in a statement on Telegram.

Specifically, safety was restored on: 5,653.77 hectares of agricultural land, 7.64 kilometers of roads, 15.09 kilometers of power lines, 66.94 kilometers of railway tracks.

In August alone, mine action specialists discovered and neutralized 8,410 explosive devices. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, a total of 458,714 explosive items have been destroyed.

The report notes that authorized units involved in clearing de-occupied territories include: demining groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, explosive ordnance disposal units of the National Police of Ukraine, and pyrotechnic teams from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

As previously reported by Ukrinform, more than 36,000 hectares in the Kyiv region have been cleared of explosive hazards, including 7,500 hectares of farmland.
