In Poland, air defence systems were placed on heightened alert on Tuesday morning, including the scrambling of fighter jets to protect the country’s airspace amid a Russian air attack on Ukraine.

This was reported on the social network X by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, according to Ukrinform.

“In connection with the attack by the Russian Federation, which is striking targets on the territory of Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation is operating in Poland’s airspace,” the statement said.

It is noted that all available forces and assets were activated, ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems were placed on alert, and fighter jets were scrambled.

The statement emphasizes that these actions were preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the security of the airspace and protecting citizens, especially in areas adjacent to the threat zone.
