He made the statement in a post on X, according to Ukrinform.
"After discussing with U.S. envoys how to bring peace in Putin's war against Ukraine, Putin again announced that most important is to remove the 'root causes' of the war. The 'root causes' of the war are Putin himself, his decisions to occupy Crimea in 2014 and full-scale invasion in 2022," Kubilius said.
He also added ironically: "This is the first time when I agree with Putin: the real root causes' of the war should be removed!"
