Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba calls on the world to support the establishment of a special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine to bring the Russian leadership to justice.

“We need a special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine to hold Russian leadership to account. Yesterday, I addressed the first International Conference on this issue in Vilnius. Grateful to organizers and reiterate my call to support the creation of the Tribunal,” Kuleba posted on Twitter.

The Declaration on the Establishment of Special Tribunal for the Punishment of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine was proclaimed on March 4, similar to the London Declaration of 1942 which laid the foundation for the Nuremberg Tribunal.

The text of the Call for the Establishment of Special Tribunal for the Punishment of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine and the draft declaration prepared by the working group were approved by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and signed by dozens of leading world and Ukrainian international lawyers and former judges of international courts.

In early March, the International Criminal Court, at the request of 39 countries, announced the launch of an investigation into the war crimes following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

On March 7, the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague began hearings on Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia over genocide charges.

On February 24, Russian president Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops shell and destroy infrastructure, massively fire on residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, MLRS, and ballistic missiles.
