Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the war is needed only by Russia.

As reported by Ukrinform, he said this in his evening video address.

"After the talks in Jeddah and the American proposal for a ceasefire on the frontline, Russia stole almost another week – a week of war that only Russia wants. We will do everything to further intensify diplomacy. We will do everything to make diplomacy effective," Zelensky emphasized.

On March 11, a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In a joint statement, Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the U.S. proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire which could be extended with mutual agreement, provided that Russia accepts and simultaneously implements the agreement.

On March 13, the U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff visited Moscow and met with Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin claimed that Putin passed "additional information and signals" to Trump through Witkoff.

On March 15, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine is not fully aware of what was discussed during the Moscow talks between Witkoff and Putin.

On March 16, Witkoff said he expects progress on the ceasefire within the coming weeks.
