The first Polish-Ukrainian intergovernmental consultations after a long break will take place in March.

This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference after a government meeting, Ukrinform reports citing Polish Radio.

Tusk reminded that regular meetings in this format had already been held before Euro 2012.

According to him, the resumed consultations will discuss, among other things, the topic of agriculture.

"We are returning to this practice. The next such meetings will be held in Warsaw in the second half of March. This is what we agreed with the Prime Minister and the President of Ukraine. We need to be well prepared for these conversations. This is also not least due to the farmers' protests. It is important for us to work out such options with the Ukrainian side so that our producers and farmers are not threatened by a wave of products from Ukraine," he added.

Tusk also mentioned infrastructure and military cooperation. So far, Poland has provided Ukraine with about 40 support packages totaling EUR 3.5 billion.

As Ukrinform reported, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk paid a visit to Ukraine on Monday, January 22. At the briefing of the two prime ministers, it was announced that Poland and Ukraine would resume the format of intergovernmental consultations after a long break in order to avoid any tension in relations.
