The government has adopted a resolution to reduce power consumption for all public authorities, in particular, stop using air conditioners and switch off external lighting of buildings.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated this at a government meeting on Friday, according to Ukrinform.

"All public authorities are tasked with reducing electricity consumption. Today we are adopting a relevant government resolution. Ministries, central executive bodies, and regional state administrations should stop using air conditioners and external lighting of buildings and nearby areas," the Prime Minister emphasized.

According to him, law enforcement bodies, judicial bodies, and other government agencies should take similar steps, and local authorities should limit street lighting.

Shmyhal also urged businesses to limit the use of air conditioners and other energy-intensive equipment that is not critical to production activities.

"The use of air conditioners in hospitals and the enterprises where air conditioning is part of the production process will not be restricted," the Prime Minister said.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukraine lost more than 9 GW of generation capacity as a result of Russian attacks.
