The European Commission has confirmed Ukraine's participation in all activities within the framework of the EU program "Creative Europe", including the Media section.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, Ukrinform saw.

"Today, the General Directorate of the European Commission for Communication Networks, Content and Technology officially informed the MCIP of Ukraine about the consent from the European Commission to Ukraine’s full participation in all activities of the EU program ‘Creative Europe’ (2021-2027), including in the ‘Media’ section,” the report reads.

According to the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on Ukraine's participation in the "Creative Europe" program, concluded on December 15, 2021, Ukrainian organizations are entitled to participate in the contests within the "Culture" and "Intersectoral Cooperation" sections. However, their participation in the "Media" section remained limited until the completion of the processes of bringing Ukraine's national legislation in the audiovisual field into compliance with EU law.

"In general, the decision was a result of the European Commission's positive assessment of Ukraine's progress in bringing the national legislation on the audiovisual industry closer to the requirements of the EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive," the ministry said.

"Creative Europe" is a framework program of the European Union aimed at supporting and strengthening the competitiveness of the European cultural, creative, and audiovisual sectors, as well as preserving, developing, and promoting the cultural and linguistic diversity of European countries.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, two Ukrainian film festivals received grants from Creative Europe.
