NABU Director Semen Kryvonos stated this in comments to Ukrinform.
"NABU will take measures to declare him internationally wanted," he said in response to reports that Komarnytskyi had fled abroad.
Law enforcement sources told Ukrinform that Komarnytskyi is currently in Austria. Journalist Mykhailo Tkach had previously reported that the former official had left Ukraine.
On February 10, NABU officially declared Komarnytskyi a wanted person, accusing him of leading a criminal organization involved in fraudulent land deals in Kyiv.
Earlier, Kryvonos stated that Komarnytskyi had been hiding in Ukraine. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), National Police, and State Border Guard Service, have been involved in efforts to track him down.
The "Clean City" operation, conducted on February 6, led to criminal charges against several high-profile Kyiv officials, including Petro Olenych, Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), Mykhailo Terentiev, Chairman of the Kyiv City Council's Land Relations Commission, Olena Marchenko, commission member, and Denys Komarnytskyi, former Kyiv City Council deputy and alleged ringleader. A total of seven individuals were detained.
Authorities estimate that between 2023-2024, the criminal organization illegally transferred city-owned land in central Kyiv worth UAH 11.6 million ($290,000). Law enforcement managed to prevent the further seizure of six additional land plots, valued at UAH 83.7 million ($2 million).
