The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"The enemy continues to attack Defense Forces with specialized munitions containing dangerous chemical agents. Alongside conventional weapons, the adversary employs munitions such as K-51 and RG-VO, which are classified as riot control agents and are prohibited for use in warfare," the statement reads.
A significant portion of the munitions contained unidentified hazardous chemical compounds.
According to the General Staff, in March 2025, Ukraine's Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Reconnaissance units recorded 767 instances of such chemical weapon use. Since February 2023, as many as 7,730 cases of chemical agent deployment have been documented.
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine's Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Reconnaissance units have directly recorded instances of chemical weapon use on the battlefield. The use of these hazardous substances has become systematic since February 2023.
Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, stated earlier that Russian forces were using prohibited chemical agents on the Kupiansk front.
