Operation Spider Web, in which the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) successfully struck 41 Russian strategic bombers, was in the making for over one-and-a-half years, sources within the SBU told Ukrinform.

The operation was personally overseen by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. It was executed under the leadership of SBU Chief Vasyl Maliuk and his team.

According to the sources, the operation posed extreme logistical challenges. The SBU first smuggled FPV drones into Russian territory, followed later by mobile wooden cabins. Once inside Russia, the drones were hidden beneath the roofs of these cabins, which were placed on cargo trucks. At the critical moment, the cabin roofs were remotely opened, launching the drones to strike Russian bombers.

Exclusive photos obtained by Ukrinform show how the drones were prepped for the assault on military airfields.

SBU sources emphasize that all personnel involved in this historic mission have long since returned to Ukraine. Therefore, any public arrests staged by the Putin regime will be nothing more than a theatrical display for domestic consumption.

On June 1, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out an unprecedented operation called "Spider Web," personally directed by SBU Chief Vasyl Maliuk. The security agency targeted four Russian airbases — Belaya, Dyagilevo, Olenya, and Ivanovo — damaging over 40 enemy aircraft, including A-50, Tu-95, and Tu-22M3 bombers.
