Russia is resorting to its traditional tactics—attacks on energy facilities—in an attempt to cause a blackout in Ukraine again this year.

According to Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an evening video address.

In particular, he reported on the consequences of Russian strikes on the country's regions and noted that the Russians are again trying to create a blackout for Ukrainians this year.

"Today, after the Russian strike, the elimination of the consequences continued throughout the day – in Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and other regions. Most of the damage was to ordinary houses and civilian facilities. More than 80 people were injured. Unfortunately, four people were killed, including one child," the Head of State said.

He noted that among the damaged facilities in Kyiv was the Strazhesko Institute. “This is the Institute of Cardiology, one of the leading medical institutions in our country and our entire region in Europe. Two people were killed there, and one of the buildings was significantly damaged. The restoration must be as quick as possible, and the government must help with this. In total, there are damages at thirty-two locations in Kyiv alone,” he added.

According to the President, the Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia was extremely brutal. Fortunately, there were no casualties. “But in Zaporizhzhia alone, almost 40 people were injured last night. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance,” he stressed, and also thanked everyone involved in the rescue operations.

“Thank you to everyone, our employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, emergency services, doctors, nurses, police officers, and municipal services,” the President emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia would receive a proportional response to attempts to cause a blackout in Ukraine in winter: if they cause one in Kyiv, they will get one in Moscow too.
