Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that 17.8 million Ukrainians have used the government's winter support, and there will be new assistance programs in the future.

The head of state said this in his nightly video address, Ukrinform reports.

"It is important that government support programs are working. As many as 17.8 million Ukrainians have now used the winter support program," he said.

Zelensky recalled that support programs for small businesses and individual entrepreneurs had been launched and that programs with heat packages were being scaled up.

"This, in particular, is a program for maintenance, purchase of generators and fuel. Just on the first day of this program today, there have already been 4,000 applications. We are scaling the program with heat packages and in the coming days in the regions where it is most difficult, at least 30,000 such packages will be distributed. Zero-percent loans for the purchase of generators have also been launched," he said.

Also, according to him, as part of the program to support the most vulnerable social groups, 374,000 Ukrainians received assistance of UAH 6,500.

"There will be other support programs. Today we discussed this with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Everyone must work as hard as possible to make this winter emergency easier for people. Both the central government and the authorities in the regions, communities and businesses. Of course, we expect that partners will not remain aside," Zelensky said.
