Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has approved President Volodymyr Zelensky's nomination of Sergii Koretskyi as the country's new Prime Minister.
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, 289 lawmakers voted in favor of his appointment.
Koretskyi becomes the fourth head of government during President Zelensky's presidency, replacing Yulia Svyrydenko, who served as Prime Minister for just under one year.
Sergii Koretskyi, 48, was born in Lutsk and is an entrepreneur and executive with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. Before his appointment, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Naftogaz Group.
In 2006, he ran for seats in both the Verkhovna Rada and the Volyn Regional Council on the ticket of the Lytvyn People's Bloc.

In 2007, Koretskyi became Chief Executive Officer of the Continuum Group's management company, a position he held until 2013. At the time, the holding comprised more than 200 companies across Ukraine, including the WOG fuel station network, Halychyna dairy company, the Kherson Oil Refinery, the Como cheese brand, Volynoblenergo, and numerous other businesses.
In 2013, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the WOG fuel station network.
In 2019, Koretskyi founded Idealist Coffee Co.
In November 2022, he was appointed head of the state-owned oil production company Ukrnafta and the oil refining company Ukrtatnafta, following their transfer to state ownership. Under his leadership, Ukrnafta transformed from a loss-making company—which had accumulated more than UAH 10 billion in losses between 2013 and 2022—into one of Ukraine's most profitable enterprises, reporting a combined net profit of UAH 40 billion in 2023–2024.
In May 2025, Koretskyi became Chairman of the Management Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine after winning a competitive selection process. The Naftogaz Group ended 2025 with revenue of UAH 270.9 billion, a 5.7% increase compared with 2024.
As previously reported, on July 14 the Verkhovna Rada approved the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Her resignation automatically resulted in the dismissal of the entire Cabinet of Ministers.
On the morning of July 15, the parliamentary faction of the Servant of the People party met with Koretskyi, then CEO of the Naftogaz Group and the nominee for prime minister, to discuss his vision for the work of the Cabinet and the structure of the future government.
Later that evening, President Zelensky formally submitted Koretskyi's nomination to the Verkhovna Rada for approval.
