Since the launch of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 198 children have died and more than 355 children have been injured.

The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office delivered the relevant update on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"More than 553 children were affected in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s armed aggression. That’s including 198 children who were killed and 355 who were injured," the statement said.

It is noted that these figures are not final, as work is underway to update the data in locations where active hostilities are underway, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

According to the data received by juvenile prosecutors, most affected children were reported in Donetsk region (117), as well as 105 in Kyiv, 81 in Kharkiv, 54 in Chernihiv, 40 in Mykolaiv, 38 in Kherson, 36 in Luhansk, 23 in Zaporizhia regions, as well as 16 in the city of Kyiv, 16 in Sumy region, and 15 in Zhytomyr region.

In particular, as Ukraine’s defense and security officials were documenting atrocities committed in town of Trostianets, Sumy region, it was established that a local boy, 14, died in Russian shelling on March 21.

 

Two children aged 9 and 11 were injured on April 14 in a Russian strike on the village of Oleksandrivka, Kharkiv region.

 

It is noted that due to massive bombardments and shelling by the Russian armed forces of Ukrainian cities and villages, 1,018 educational facilities were damaged, 95 of which were completely destroyed.

 

As reported earlier, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyskyy handed over to the UN Office a bloodied toy retrieved from the site of a Russian strike on the Kramatorsk railway station where dozens of civilians were killed and over a hundred – injured.
