New British Prime Minister says he looking forward to meeting Zelensky

New British Prime Minister  Keir Starmer has expressed support for Ukraine and said he expects to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky soon. 

Starmer wrote about this on the social network X, Ukrinform reports. 

“Ukraine’s ongoing fight against Russian aggression matters to all of us. The UK’s support remains unshakable. I look forward to seeing President Volodymyr Zelensky soon,” Starmer wrote.

The day before, the President of Ukraine said he had a phone conversation with Sir Keir Starmer on the day he was appointed the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Zelensky congratulated him on his election victory and wished him to successfully fulfill the expectations that the British people had for the new government.

“I am grateful to Keir Starmer for the assurance that Great Britain's support for Ukraine will remain unalterably principled,” Zelensky wrote.

The President also noted, thay coordinated positions before the NATO summit in Washington and other international events and discussed the continuation of bilateral cooperation, in particular the preparation of an unprecedented 100-year agreement between Ukraine and Great Britain. 

As reported by Ukrinform, on July 4, early parliamentary elections were held in the United Kingdom, which were won by the Labour Party. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak admitted the loss of his Conservative Party in the early parliamentary elections. The leader of this party, Keir Starmer, became the new Prime Minister of the country.
