FM Sybiha criticizes Budapest’s stance on Ukraine, says Orbán has gone, but his policies thriving

According to Ukrinform, the Foreign Minister wrote this on X.

Sybiha noted that the Carpathian Integration Initiative is aimed at developing the entire region by promoting prosperity, connectivity and the implementation of mutually beneficial projects across eight Carpathian countries.

“The reasons for such a categorical rejection on Hungary's part remain unknown,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted.

According to Sybiha, an equally surprising development was the statements “casting doubt on the direct, pragmatic, and mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukrainian and Hungarian energy companies, agreed upon in a bilateral memorandum.”

“Whenever politics interferes with pragmatic business, nothing good comes of it. What we've been hearing from Budapest lately leaves us confused. It seems that while Viktor Orbán is gone, his policies of obstructionism and isolationism continue to thrive,” Sybiha said.

In this context, he recalled that “Orbanism” had done no good, neither to Hungary nor to the broader region, in the past – and it would not do any good in the future.

At the same time, the Minister emphasized that despite these statements, Ukraine remains ready and open to developing mutually beneficial, pragmatic and mutually respectful bilateral cooperation with Hungary.

As reported by the media, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said that his country is not a member of the Carpathian Eight format initiated by Ukraine, which aims to strengthen cooperation among countries in the Carpathian region.

The Hungarian Prime Minister also said that his government would not allow oil storage facilities to be built on Hungarian territory for Ukraine’s needs.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Naftogaz Group signed a memorandum with MOL on the construction of oil product storage facilities in Hungary for Ukraine’s needs.
