U.S. to do everything to end active phase of war in Ukraine this year – Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during a press conference at the "Ukraine. Year 2025" forum, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

"Regarding the war in general. I believe that the U.S. will do everything to ensure that the active phase of the war ends this year. I think that is their goal. And they will do everything to achieve it. That’s why I say that doing everything to make this happen — by helping us — is a slightly different approach. This is what I meant when I said: peace through strength, but directed at Russia, not elsewhere," Zelensky said.

As a reminder, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Saturday that President Trump is confident he could reach a deal with Russia to end the war in Ukraine as soon as next week.

Meanwhile, President Zelensky emphasized that concrete steps are currently being taken to ensure that discussions about Ukraine and all of Europe happen with their direct participation.
