According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's Defence Intelligence Directorate announced the information on Facebook.
The information has been published on the War&Sanctions portal.
The individuals used their public profiles to influence public opinion and justify what Ukrainian officials describe as Russia's genocidal war against Ukraine, HUR emphasized.
Among them are:
- Sergey Karjakin — a Ukrainian-born Russian chess player and grandmaster, and a so-called Russian "senator" representing the "representative body" of temporarily occupied Crimea. He runs the overseas propaganda project "Chess Diplomacy in Russian Houses" and the nationwide chess tournament "Chess for Our Own," aimed at participants in Russia's war against Ukraine.
- Vyacheslav Fetisov — a Soviet and Russian ice hockey player, a member of the founding board of the World Anti-Doping Agency, chair of the Conference of Parties to UNESCO's International Convention against Doping in Sport, and first deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sport, Tourism and Youth Affairs. He lobbies for the interests of Russian athletes and advocates their return to international competition under the Russian flag and national anthem.
- Anna Osipova/Syomina, known by the stage name Yuta — a Russian singer, musician, and performer at the Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army. Her songs glorify participants in Russia's war against Ukraine. She also runs her own project, "Write to Me," about participants in the so-called "special military operation" (SVO), portraying them as heroes.
