General Staff dwells on tasks set before new chief

Major General Andriy Hnatov has been tasked with increasing the efficiency of the command vertical in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including in the process of reorganization and implementing the corps-based structure.

That’s according to the General Staff press service, Ukrinform reports.

"In order to improve the quality of command and control of the troops, by decree of the President of Ukraine, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Major General Andriy Hnatov, who until now had held the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was appointed to the position of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the statement says.

As noted, the new chief has been tasked with increasing the efficiency of the command vertical of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular in the process of reorganization and implementation of the corps-based structure.

Also, he is expected to be prompt in implementing the decisions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters, as well as to apply combat experience in planning and commanding troops.

It is also noted that Lieutenant General Anatoliy Barhylevych is becoming Inspector General at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"The new Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine received important tasks to monitor the reform processes being implemented in the Army, verify compliance with legislation and decisions made in the Ministry of Defense system, taking into account his extensive management experience gained in the Armed Forces," the General Staff emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Anatoliy Barhylevych from the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, appointing Andriy Hnatov to replace him.
