Leaders of several European countries, Ukraine speak with Trump by phone

The leaders of Germany, Finland, France, Italy, and Ukraine, as well as the president of the European Commission, held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump.

A German government spokesperson said this at a press briefing in Berlin on Monday, according to Ukrinform.

Following his talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Trump briefed his European partners on Monday evening about the content of the conversation and discussed ways to achieve a ceasefire and peace in Ukraine, the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, in addition to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the call was attended by the presidents of Finland, France, and Ukraine, the prime minister of Italy, and the president of the European Commission.

"The U.S. president and the European partners agreed on further steps. They committed to closely coordinating the negotiation process and to organizing a follow-up technical meeting. All parties reaffirmed their readiness to strongly support Ukraine in its efforts to achieve a ceasefire. The European participants announced that they would increase pressure on the Russian side through sanctions," the spokesperson.

Trump held a phone conversation with Putin on Monday that lasted over two hours.
