War update: 188 combat engagements on frontline over past day

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a Facebook update on the situation as of 8:00, Tuesday, July 8.

Throughout the day, Russian forces launched two missile strikes, 68 airstrikes, used five missiles and dropped 112 guided aerial bombs, deployed 3,373 kamikaze drones, and conducted over 5,000 shellings, including 141 using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Airstrikes targeted areas near Kindrativka, Kostiantynivka, Novomykolaivka, Vodolaha, Oleksiivka, and Sadky in Sumy region, Novopavlivka in Dnipropetrovsk region, Prymorske in Zaporizhzhia region, and Kozatske in Kherson region.

In response, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck 18 clusters of Russian personnel, weapons, and equipment, three artillery systems, one command post, and another key target.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, eight combat engagements occurred. The Russians launched six airstrikes, dropped 11 guided bombs, and carried out 286 shellings, including three with MLRS.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces launched 19 assaults near Vovchansk, Zelene, Ambarne, Krasne Pershe, Kamianka, and toward Kutkivka.

In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled two assaults near Holubivka and Zahryzove.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces carried out 27 attacks near Novyi Myr, Ridkodub, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and Serebrianskyi Forest, as well as toward Serebrianka, Olhivka, and Hryhorivka.

In the Siversk sector, the Russians attacked the Ukrainian positions three times near Hryhorivka and Vyimka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, five combat engagements occurred near Mykolaivka, Markove, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out four attacks near Toretsk and Dyliivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 68 assaults near Popiv Yar, Razyne, Myroliubivka, Novoekonomichne, Lysivka, Shevchenko, Novoukrainka, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Kotliarivka, Orikhove, and Oleksiivka.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Russian forces launched 30 attacks near Piddubne, Fedorivka, Voskresenka, Yalta, Shevchenko, Novosilka, Vilne Pole, and Novopil.

In the Huliaipole sector, Ukrainian forces repelled four attacks near Malynivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, four attacks were repelled near Kamianske and toward Mala Tokmachka.

In the Prydniprovske sector, no engagements were recorded.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of enemy offensive formations were spotted.

As reported by Ukrinform, as of July 8, 2025, the total combat losses of Russian forces in the war against Ukraine since February 24, 2022, are estimated at approximately 1,028,610 personnel, including 1,070 in the past 24 hours.
