A very important mutual understanding was reached during the negotiations with the President of the European Commission.

“Today, within the framework of negotiations with the President of the European Commission and the College of Commissioners, we have reached a very important mutual understanding. That only together a strong Ukraine and a strong European Union can protect the life we value. That Ukraine needs unwavering and full support in its defense against Russia. And that we must, through our further integration, give energy and motivation to our people to fight despite any obstacles and threats. I believe that Ukraine deserves to reach the beginning of negotiations on EU membership this year already,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address.

The Head of State thanked President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and her colleagues and partners in the EU for the military, financial, energy, and social support provided to Ukraine on the path of integration and the protection of our country and people. He emphasized that these are changes that ensure even greater cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.

As reported, a meeting of the members of the College of European Commissioners, headed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, with the Government of Ukraine took place in Kyiv today. The meeting participants discussed the support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, the coordination of efforts to restore Ukraine, the continuation of key reforms and Ukraine's future EU membership.

On February 3, the 24th EU-Ukraine Summit will be held in Kyiv.
