The Russian army launched a missile attack on the town of Izium in the Kharkiv region. At least four people were killed, according to preliminary data.

Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“An enemy attack on Izium. According to preliminary data, the occupiers used a ballistic missile. Four people were killed. As many as 17 people have been wounded, five of them are currently hospitalized,” the post reads.

All relevant services are working at the site of the strike.

In a follow-up post, he clarified that the enemy targeted the center of Izium, and the number of victims was increasing.

“The enemy struck the central part of the city. The number of victims has increased to 20,” said the regional governor.  

As reported, Izium was under occupation for six months in 2022. The city suffered significant damage to its infrastructure and housing stock as a result of Russian shelling.

Following the liberation of Izium in September 2022, a mass grave was discovered on the outskirts of the city. It contained the bodies of those killed by shelling and lack of medical care, as well as those killed by the occupiers. More than 20 bodies remain unidentified.
