The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"Under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, a Kyiv resident has been notified of suspicion of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the post reads.
The suspect came to the attention of Russian intelligence during a chat roulette broadcast, where he expressed pro-Russian views.
According to investigators, the man was recruited by Russian GRU special forces, after which he began collecting intelligence on local enterprises, he believed were producing military equipment for Ukraine’s defense forces.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) confirmed that the suspect was affiliated with an elite GRU unit. He allegedly gathered information by asking acquaintances casual questions and conducted surveillance at the physical locations of potential targets.
The suspect also monitored the movement and combat positions of mobile fire teams during air raid alerts.
“This intelligence was intended for Russia to plan missile strikes on Kyiv and surrounding areas,” prosecutors stated.
