The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania has adopted a decision calling on UN member states to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk said this in a statement on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Unanimously! The Republic of Lithuania has become the second country whose parliament has made a decision calling on UN member states to close Ukraine's skies from the Russian aggressor," Stefanchuk said.

He thanked the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, and all Lithuanian deputies for their solidarity with Ukraine.

Stefanchuk called on other parliaments to take decisive action. "Open your hearts - close the sky over Ukraine," Stefanchuk said, addressing his foreign colleagues.

On March 14, the Estonian parliament adopted a decision calling on UN member states to close the skies over Ukraine. Estonia became the first country to make such a decision.
