President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with representatives of national minorities and indigenous peoples of Ukraine to discuss community coordination with the state and the implementation of the law on indigenous peoples.

According to Ukrinform, Zelensky shared details of the meeting in a post on Telegram.

“I met with representatives of national minorities and indigenous peoples of Ukraine. Yesterday, for the first time, we celebrated the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity. Our country is multinational, and that is our strength. We all feel mutual support and understanding, we live together, and we fight together to live in peace,” Zelensky stated.

During the meeting, key issues were addressed, including the implementation of the law on indigenous peoples, coordination between the state and national minorities, educational and language issues, citizenship for those who have been waiting for a long time, and efforts to bring Ukrainian citizens back home.

"More than a hundred national minorities are an integral part of Ukraine. It is essential that all communities work together to strengthen our Europeanness through openness and cooperation. I am grateful to each and every one of them for their unity and love for Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized.

As reported, on May 21, Ukraine officially observed the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity at the national level for the first time, following its establishment by presidential decree on December 27, 2024
