Pope Leo XIV to meet Ukrainian pilgrims in Vatican

According to Ukrinform, this was announced on the official website of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC).

On June 28–29, a jubilee pilgrimage of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to the tomb of Saint Peter the Apostle will take place in Rome.

“On June 28, all pilgrims are asked to be inside St. Peter’s Basilica no later than 12:45 to ensure they are seated in time for the meeting with the Holy Father,” the UGCC stated.

At 13:00, an archbishop-led Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian Byzantine Rite will begin, presided over by the Head of the UGCC and concelebrated by all Ukrainian Greek Catholic bishops from around the world.

For those unable to attend in person, Live TV will broadcast all key events of the pilgrimage live.

“I invite all our faithful who are able to participate in this pilgrimage. Prepare for it spiritually — through confession, prayer, and fasting. A special highlight of this pilgrimage will be the opportunity to pass through the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica and receive a plenary indulgence,” said Sviatoslav. “Even in the Vatican, they must see that we are many and we are unstoppable. We are the largest Eastern Catholic Church — a global Church that unites a multi-million strong Ukrainian community across the world. I extend this invitation to all our faithful: come and see.”

As previously reported by Ukrinform, UGCC Head Sviatoslav and Director General of the Ukrainian Center for Transplant Coordination Dmytro Koval have called for blood donation as an act of Christian solidarity.
