President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the site of a Russian missile strike in Kyiv to honor the victims.

He said this in a post on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“I paid tribute to the memory of those killed at the site where a Russian ballistic missile struck a residential building. This horrific strike claimed the lives of 22 people, including 4 children, the youngest of whom was not even three years old. My condolences to all their families and loved ones,” the President wrote.

Zelensky assured that all those affected, including families who lost loved ones, will soon receive housing assistance. Relevant support programs are already in place.

“This attack is a demonstrative Russian response to the world’s efforts to end this war. Killing children and causing destruction instead of pursuing diplomacy and peace. And such a response demands a reaction from the world: even more sanctions, even more opportunities for Ukraine to speak the language of strength – the only language Russia understands. I thank all the partners who are helping us with this,” the President emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of August 28, Russian forces launched a combined strike on Kyiv, resulting in a series of explosions. Extensive damage was reported across the Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Desnianskyi districts.

Updated figures confirm that 25 people were killed in the attack, including four children, and dozens more were injured.

August 29 was declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv.
