Zelensky says Russia can and must end war after Ukrainian operation in Novorossiysk

He stated this in a post on Telegram following a briefing on the results of a Ukrainian long-range operation in Novorossiysk, Ukrinform reports.

"It is entirely fair that Ukraine responds to Russia's war, and it is Russia that can and must end its war," Zelensky said.

Commenting on the operation, Zelensky described it as successful and highlighted the coordinated use of Ukrainian long-range weapons as a form of "long-range sanctions."

The president thanked Ukrainian troops for their precision, as well as the developers and manufacturers of Ukrainian weapons for significantly strengthening the country's capabilities.

"For the first time in a single operation, Palianytsia, Peklo, Bars, and Long Neptune worked in concert, along with the Mich, Fire Point, Ramzay, Sichen, Trust, Khariok, Bober, Liutyi, and Dovbush drones, as well as the Sargan and Mamai unmanned surface vessels," he said.

Among the results of the operation, Zelensky highlighted strikes on Russian naval vessels that had been hiding in Novorossiysk Bay.

"In particular, according to verified data, the Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov frigates, a large landing ship, a corvette, and other vessels were hit. Other Russian facilities that were helping finance the war were also struck," the president said.

He added that Ukraine would continue to push Russia toward peace through further use of Ukrainian long-range and medium-range "sanctions."

"Today, together with the Minister of Defense, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine, we identified priorities for the near term," Zelensky said.

As reported, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, conducted a large-scale special operation targeting the Novorossiysk naval base, as well as port and oil infrastructure facilities in Russia's Krasnodar region.
