The Ministry of Infrastructure has sent a letter to the European Commission proposing that the EU completely block transport connections with Russia and Belarus.

This was reported by the ministry's press service on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"Despite the restrictive measures already in place, Russian businesses are finding workarounds and continuing to operate in other countries. Accordingly, the existing sanctions fail to fully achieve their goal. In this regard, the Ministry of Infrastructure proposes that the European Union completely block land and sea transport routes with Russia and Belarus," the statement said.

In addition, the Ministry of Infrastructure proposes to block the possibility of shipping goods and transporting people to Russia and Belarus through the EU and across its borders; to prohibit provision of customs services for goods delivered to the Russian Federation and Belarus.

The ministry stressed that these measures are necessary to stop supplies to the aggressor power of dual-use goods that can be used for military purposes.

As reported, with the launch of a large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, a number of countries, in particular the United Kingdom, the United States, and the EU, have banned Russian civilian aircraft from their airspace. In addition, some airlines have canceled flights to Russian cities.
