The Ministry of Defence has announced that about 10 new models of pistols and submachine guns of foreign and Ukrainian production have been approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence, Ukrinform reports.

The arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine includes, in particular, foreign-made pistols from well-known arms companies from the United States, Italy and Belgium.

Most of the pistols and submachine guns approved for use are of 9 mm calibre. There are also models with a more powerful calibre - 11.43 mm.

According to the Ministry of Defence, submachine guns are light, compact and effective. They are mostly equipped with 30-round magazines. However, one of the new models can be converted to use 15-, 20- and 25-round magazines.

"This sample is also equipped with a folding stock in both directions and an adapter for installing a silencer," the ministry said.

It is noted that all submachine guns "are characterised by a very high rate of fire, which is extremely important in close combat".

As Ukrinform reported earlier, more than 60 samples of ammunition of various types have been approved for use in the Ukrainian Defence Forces this year.
