US President Donald Trump expressed his initiative to hold a meeting with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia, Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, almost immediately after the talks in Alaska.

The White House chief made this statement on Wednesday during a speech at the Kennedy Center, according to Ukrinform's correspondent.

Trump said that they were going to have, in his words, a second meeting, and that if the first one went well, they would quickly hold another, which he would like to arrange almost immediately.

He clarified that he meant a meeting with Zelensky and Putin, “if they want me to be there.”

And this, according to Trump, will be a meeting “at which, perhaps, everything will work out,” since the meeting in Alaska will be devoted to “figuring out where we are.”

According to Trump, a second meeting is “highly likely” and could be “more productive than the first.”

Trump said that significant achievements could be made at the first meeting, which would be very important, but would also serve to pave the way for the second one.

At the same time, he admitted that the second meeting may not take place if he does not get the answers he wants to hear and feels that it is inappropriate to hold it.

Trump also commented on Wednesday's telephone conversation with European leaders and President Zelensky, calling it “quite friendly.”

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that during Wednesday's talks, European leaders agreed with the US president on the principles of communication with Putin. At the same time, Zelensky stressed that all issues concerning Ukraine should be discussed exclusively with Ukraine.
