Zelensky awards state honors to 143 foreign nationals

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded state honors to 143 foreign citizens for their significant contributions to strengthening international cooperation, supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, engaging in charitable activities, and promoting Ukraine globally.

The decree to that effect, No. 617/2025 dated August 23, was published on the president's official website, Ukrinform reports.

Foreign recipients were honored with various distinctions, including the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, the Order of Merit, the Order of Princess Olga, the Medal for Labor and Victory, and the Cross of Ivan Mazepa, a presidential award.

Among those awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, First Class, are Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal, Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Andrej Plenkovic, Prime Minister of Croatia, Dorin Recean, Prime Minister of Moldova, Jonas Gahr Stoere, Prime Minister of Norway, Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham, and Andrius Kubilius, EU Commissioner for Defense and Space.

During Ukraine's Independence Day celebrations, Zelensky also decorated several other international partners, including U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg with an Order of Merit, First Class, Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson with an Order of Merit, First Class, and German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger with an Order of Merit, Second Class.
