General Staff: 172 combat clashes with Russian troops on front lines over past day

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an update on the situation as of 08:00 Friday, September 5.

The enemy launched two missile strikes and 78 airstrikes, deploying three missiles and 136 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, Russian forces carried out 4,861 shelling attacks, including 80 from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and deployed 5,607 kamikaze drones.

Airstrikes targeted areas near Zaliznyi Mist in the Chernihiv region, Bilohiria, Stepnohirsk, and Chervona Krynytsia in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Kozatske in the Kherson region.

Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck three concentrations of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment; one ammunition depot; one command post; four UAV control centers; and five Russian artillery systems.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled four enemy attacks. Russian forces launched 15 airstrikes, dropped 33 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 249 artillery attacks, including 10 MLRS strikes.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian troops stopped eight attacks near Vovchansk, Kamianka, and Krasne Pershe.

In the Kupiansk sector, nine Russian assaults took place. Ukrainian forces repelled enemy offensives near Stepova Novoselivka, Borivska Andriivka, and toward Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and Novoplatonivka.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy launched 18 attacks, attempting to break through defenses near Hrekivka, Karpivka, Kolodiazi, Torske, Novomykhailivka, and toward Novyi Myr and Shandryholove.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 28 attacks near Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, and toward Yampil, Dronivka, Siversk, and Vyiimka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, nine combat engagements occurred. Russian forces attempted to advance toward Bondarne, Virolubivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy launched 11 attacks near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Kleban-Byk, Rusyn Yar, and Poltavka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 47 Russian assaults near Volodymyrivka, Kucheriv Yar, Rubizhne, Nikanorivka, Ivanivka, Mayak, Rodynske, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Myroliubivka, Kotlyne, Novoekonomichne, Promin, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward Novopavlivka and Balahan.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the enemy launched 21 attacks near Filiia, Sichneve, Komyshuvakha, Voskresenka, Maliivka, Temyrivka, Zelenyi Hai, and Olhivske.

In the Huliaipole sector, Russian forces did not conduct offensive actions.

In the Orikhiv sector, three combat engagements occurred near Kamianske and Mala Tokmachka.

In the Dniprovske sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled two enemy attacks toward Antonivka.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of Russian offensive group formations were detected.

As reported by Ukrinform, Russia’s total combat losses in the war against Ukraine, since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, have reached 1,086,220 personnel.
