Trump says Modi thanked him for efforts to end war in Ukraine

The White House chief wrote about this on Tuesday on his social network Truth Social, Ukrinform reports.

Trump wrote that he had just had a great phone call with his friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which he wished him a happy birthday.

Despite the current tensions between the US and India following the US administration's imposition of additional tariffs on the country, Trump stressed that Modi is “doing a great job.”

In addition, the US president said that the Indian prime minister thanked him for his efforts to establish peace in Ukraine.

Trump wrote that Narendra had thanked him for his support in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, the US administration last month doubled tariffs on goods from India from 25% to 50%, accusing the country of purchasing Russian oil and gas, the proceeds from which the Russian Federation uses to finance its war against Ukraine.
