Ukraine, US first ladies discuss protection of children

That is according to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

Zelenska thanked Trump for her support of Ukraine, particularly for her attention to children who have become victims of Russia's brutal war against the Ukrainian state.

She expressed special gratitude for Trump's letter calling on Russia's leader to ensure peace for children.

The two first ladies discussed the importance of safeguarding shared values, above all the protection of children and their childhood.

"I believe in the effectiveness of soft power, in humanity, empathy, and the ability to change reality for the better. I am confident that through joint efforts we can help all children who need it," Zelenska said.

She also thanked Trump for the meeting and expressed hope for further cooperation to protect children.

The bilateral meeting between Olena Zelenska and Melania Trump took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
