Commissioner Kos: We have completed screening of Ukraine's legislation

She made the statement during a press briefing in Uzhhorod on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Kos said that she was beginning her three-day visit to Ukraine in the Zakarpattia region and that it was very symbolic that she was there today, when the screening of Ukraine's legislation had been completed.

She explained that her team had reviewed more than 100,000 pages of Ukrainian laws and compared them with the relevant EU legislation.

Kos said this process was carried out in less than one year, adding that it was faster than it has ever been done before.

She stressed that the question of what comes next will be discussed further in Kyiv.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Viktor Mykyta, in turn, posted on Telegram that the EU's monitoring results highlight the effectiveness of reforms already implemented on Ukraine's path toward EU membership.

"A working meeting with high representatives of the European Union took place within the framework of Ukraine's European integration process. Marta Kos and [Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine] Katarina Mathernova focused on the specific steps our state has taken to open the first negotiation cluster between the EU and Ukraine," Mykyta said.

He added that Ukrainian officials presented the outcomes of government institutions and local authorities, showing clear progress in meeting EU standards across regions and communities. According to him, in recent years Ukraine has carried out substantial work on international transport and logistics infrastructure, reforms to support national minorities, joint international and interregional partnership projects, and more.

"At every stage, all key stakeholders are involved. The EU representatives' monitoring results confirm the effectiveness of reforms and their real implementation," Mykyta said.
