Key senior officials in the Trump administration responsible for national security decisions will hold a briefing on Tuesday for a limited group of lawmakers in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Reuters reported this in an article, citing three sources familiar with the meeting plan, according to Ukrinform.

"U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to brief the 'Gang of Eight' lawmakers on Tuesday afternoon," the report said.

The meeting will take place behind closed doors.

The briefing topics, including whether Ukraine will be discussed, have not been disclosed. However, it is noted that the meeting was convened following the release of the U.S. national security strategy by the administration. The briefing is expected to begin at 15:30 Washington time (22:30 Kyiv time).

As reported, the term "Gang of Eight" is an informal designation for a bipartisan group of eight members of Congress from both chambers who hold leadership positions on intelligence committees. Under the law, these lawmakers are authorized to receive classified intelligence information from the executive branch.
