As reported by Ukrinform, citing Reuters, Hezbollah – one of the main allies of the Iranian regime in the Middle East – said that the shelling of Israel was a response to the killing of Iran’s leader, Ali Khamenei, and to ongoing Israeli attacks against Lebanon.
The Israeli military said that “the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) will operate against Hezbollah’s decision to join the campaign, and will not enable the organization to constitute a threat to the State of Israel.”
It is noted that Israeli forces struck the southern suburbs of Beirut, where the group’s forces are concentrated.
According to The Times of Israel, the IDF said that Israel’s air force intercepted one rocket overnight from Sunday to Monday, while several others landed in open areas. No casualties or damage were reported.
