US Army plans to recreate Ukrainian battlefield conditions at several training ranges

Over the next four to six weeks, the U.S. Army plans to establish at least two testing ranges that will replicate the real electronic warfare conditions found on the battlefield in Ukraine.

According to CBS News, U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll announced the initiative, Ukrinform reports.

According to Driscoll, the goal is to recreate the specific electronic warfare environment and all battlefield conditions, while enabling cooperation between drone manufacturers and developers of counter-drone technologies.

The facilities are expected to allow military personnel to improve their skills and work closely with developers of unmanned systems, the Army Secretary noted.

In addition, Driscoll said the U.S. Army is considering establishing a global testing range outside the United States for conducting "much more aggressive testing," including with hypersonic weapons.

It is noted that U.S. military officials have been discussing Pentagon plans with defense companies to develop more systems capable of intercepting drones and missiles.

According to Dwayne Hayes, Russia produces approximately 3,000-5,000 Shahed-type attack drones and about 600,000 FPV drones per month. At the same time, Ukraine is producing around 30,000 interceptor drones monthly.

Hayes stressed that the United States is very good at producing "exquisite" munitions — expensive, high-tech weapons such as interceptor missiles for Patriot and THAAD systems. However, the U.S. also needs to develop cheaper interceptors suitable for use in a "brutal war of attrition."

As reported by Ukrinform, U.S. President Donald Trump plans to ask American defense companies to manufacture weapons under license in Europe and Ukraine.
