Russia's war against Ukraine causes largest refugee crisis since World War II - UN

German representative for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Katharina Lumpp has said that the number of Ukrainians who have had to flee the country makes it Europe's biggest refugee crisis since World War II.

This was reported by DW, according to Ukrinform.

In particular, more than 7.9 million people have fled Ukraine since the start of the war and another 5.9 million people are internally displaced, Lumpp said.

 

Lump added the US and Germany were top humanitarian donors, with Germany having provided more than EUR 1 billion in humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began.

 

As reported, according to data provided by the UNHCR, the number of Ukrainians who left for European countries after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion has reached 7.9 million.
