More than 2.4M Ukrainians live in war-damaged homes

Vice Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.

"More than 2.4 million Ukrainians live in damaged or ruined property as of the autumn of 2022. More than 316,000 Ukrainians have already submitted applications for compensation via Diia [digital government service]. And this is far from a full list of those affected, it is updated every day," he noted.

According to Kubrakov, the problem requires a clear state policy. Bill No.7198, which is currently under consideration by the Verkhovna Rada, can become one of the tools for regulating the issue of compensation for destroyed housing.

In particular, the law defines who can receive compensation, in what form, when and how the injured party can use it to purchase a new home.

"Citizens will receive a clear and understandable algorithm of actions to receive compensation," the minister added.

As reported, the Russian aggression has caused more than $700 billion in damage to Ukraine’s economy.
