Invaders in Kherson region force people to get Russian passports ‘in exchange for life’ – Humeniuk

Natalia Humeniuk, head of the joint press center of the Southern Defense Forces, said this on the air of Radio NV, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Humeniuk, the invaders continue blackmailing the population and conducting forced passportization in exchange for basic necessities "and generally in exchange for life."

"That is, people may be rescued from flooded areas only if they take a [Russian] passport. To get medical assistance – only if they have a Russian passport. To receive humanitarian aid, some kind of support – only if you have a Russian passport. That is, people are actually faced with the choice of life and death because of a Russian passport," Humeniuk said.

She emphasized that the humanitarian situation on the left bank is very difficult – there is no drinking water and it is impossible to use local wells and springs, only imported water is needed.

"The situation with intestinal diseases is very difficult, even the occupiers themselves suffer from them," Humeniuk said.

As reported, the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam on June 6, causing the flooding of parts of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions and the critical shallowing of the Kakhovka reservoir.
