Long-range Neptunes, 3,000-kilometer drone test: Zelensky holds Staff meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on Monday, with key discussions focusing on drones and the use of Ukrainian missiles.

The head of state stated this in a video address, according to Ukrinform.

"Today, I held a Staff meeting. Several issues were discussed, but the most important one was drones -- all types of drones that we need. There is good news regarding long-range drones: our 3,000-kilometer-range drone has successfully passed testing. I am grateful to the developers and manufacturers. We are expanding our arsenal of long-range systems to ensure our nation's security," Zelensky said.

During the meeting, military officials also reviewed the deployment of Ukrainian-made missiles, including the "Long-Range Neptune."

"We can say we are satisfied with the strike results. However, we need to produce more missiles, more drones. Later this week, we will discuss this with our partners," Zelensky said.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine's defense production capabilities, combined with investments from partners, first and foremost, those in Europe, form a solid foundation for a new security architecture on the continent -- one that is both necessary and inevitable.

He said that security is essential, and it is only a matter of time before everyone in Europe realizes that the old security framework no longer works.

"We need new things. Sufficient modern technological weaponry. Sufficient defense spending. Sufficient investment in defense production. And most importantly -- motivation. The motivation to defend one's home. This means having contingents with proper combat experience and training with those who possess that experience," he said.

Zelensky also held a separate meeting with the newly appointed Chief of the General Staff, Andrii Hnatov, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, where they set immediate priorities for Ukraine's defense forces.

"One key priority is the corps system -- we need to implement it as quickly as possible. Additionally, meetings with European partners will take place soon to define practical steps for Europe's future security system, including partner contingents willing to contribute to peace in Ukraine," Zelensky said.

The president said he expected a detailed report from the defense minister on Ukraine's preparations for these upcoming international discussions.
