Since the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine, 71 children have been killed and more than 100 have been wounded.

"As of 11:00, March 10, 2022, since the beginning of the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine, 71 children have been killed and more than 100 children have been injured," Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova posted on Telegram.

In particular, according to her, 7 private one-story houses were destroyed, 5 people were killed, including three children (a five-year-old girl and two children born in 2021), as a result of an air strike on the town of Malyn, Zhytomyr region.

A 16-year-old boy was also killed in shelling of a market in the village of Zhukovskoho, Kharkiv region.

As a result of another artillery shelling of the village of Slobozhanske, Izium district, Kharkiv region, an enemy shell hit a private house at night. Four people died under the rubble: 2 women and 2 children, a 5-year-old girl managed to survive.

In addition, in the town of Irpin, Kyiv region, a 10-year-old girl was severely wounded and is currently in hospital in serious condition.

"Over the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, the atrocities of Russian militants, the violation of all Geneva conventions, Ukraine pays an exorbitant price – the lives of its children, the future of our people. I insist, NATO countries, help stop Russian terrorism – close the sky over Ukraine," the human rights commissioner urged.

On February 24, president Putin announced the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, massively hitting residential areas of Ukrainian towns and villages using artillery, multiple-launch rocket system, and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
