Kyiv may move to strict but predictable blackout schedules in coming days – Shmyhal

The First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal  stated this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"We continue work within the Emergency Response Headquarters in Kyiv and the region. The situation in the power system remains extremely tense. Emergency outages continue in Kyiv. However, energy specialists have developed a number of technical solutions that will allow a transition from emergency to strict but predictable schedules. The goal is to move to this regime in the coming days," he said.

According to Shmyhal, 160 teams worked during the day to restore electricity and heat. At night, 52 teams will be deployed on site.

"It was possible to partially stabilize the operation of heat generation. 3,261 buildings remain without heating. The clear task is to supply heat to as many homes as possible tomorrow. Utility services are doing everything possible for this. At critical points in the city, 124 generators of various capacities are deployed. Additionally, 91 emergency assistance points of the State Emergency Service have been set up at 68 locations. Work to restore heat generation is ongoing," he said.

As Ukrinform previously reported, despite critical infrastructure in Kyiv being restored, the capital's power system remains in a deep emergency mode.
