NATO lacks courage and determination to close skies over Ukraine – Zhovkva

NATO lacks courage and determination to close the skies over Ukraine or provide necessary equipment for this purpose.

The relevant statement was made by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva in an interview with TSN.

“Sadly, it is obvious they lack courage, determination; perhaps they are thinking to sit and wait, so that nothing else happens. But is has already happened. The war in Europe has already been lasting for 18 days. Thus, they will not be able to sit and wait,” Zhovkva told.

In his words, the Ukrainian position is flexible, and Western partners could have provided at least some equipment required to close the skies.

“If you cannot establish a no-fly zone to close the skies over Ukraine, please provide us with equipment, provide us with missile defense systems, as you have them; provide us with anti-aircraft defense systems, as you have them; if you cannot provide that, please give us aircrafts, fighter jets, as you do have them,” Zhovkva noted.

According to Zhovkva, negotiations are underway, and they are rather successful in some terms.

“But, we would like more devotion, we would like countries to think a little bit ahead and realize that, defending Ukraine today, they are defending themselves tomorrow,” Zhovkva stressed.

A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching missile strikes on residential areas in Ukrainian cities and villages.
