Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko thanks the Americans and Brits for providing new military aid, which will allow Ukraine to better protect its airspace from Russian aggression.

According to Ukrinform, Klitschko said this in a video address released March 17.

"I thank our American partners who will provide a new package of military assistance to Ukraine so that we can defend ourselves. This includes our airspace. I am grateful to Great Britain for supplying our nation with modern defensive weapons, for your support to Ukraine in its fight for freedom and independence. We will hold our ground! We are on our land, we’re fighting for our country and our future! We are determined to win and we will not fall into the traps that Russia tries to drive us into. They already realize that they cannot win the war they started to destroy Ukraine. We will prevail! And we will build our state back! Glory to Ukraine!" Klitschko stated.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that the United States would allocate an additional $800 million, which, together with the previous $200 million tranche, will be used exclusively to provide Ukraine with defense systems and weapons.

The package includes, in particular, 800 Stinger anti-aircraft systems, 2,000 Javelin anti-tank missiles, 1,000 light armor-piercing weapons, and 6,000 AT-4 anti-tank systems. In total, over the past week, the United States has allocated more than $1 billion in security and defense assistance to Ukraine.
