Ukrainian Spartans: Eighty soldiers hold back enemy onslaught on Kyiv through Moshchun village

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi has praised an 80-strong 72nd Black Cossacks Separate Mechanized Brigade, who succeeded in preventing thousands of Russian invaders from advancing toward Kyiv through the village of Moshchun.

The commander-in-chief delivered his address via Facebook, Ukrinform reports

"Everyone knows the story of 300 Spartans. In this war, we have examples of courage and professionalism that the world should know about. Eighty soldiers with the 72nd Black Cossacks Separate Mechanized Brigade held back thousands of Russian forces trying to break through the village of Moshchun toward Kyiv," said Zaluzhnyi.

The commander-in-chief stressed that the world should also be aware of the atrocities committed by the Russians against the civilian population, as well as of Ukraine’s nationwide total resistance to the occupiers.

The village of Moshchun was liberated from Russian invaders on March 21. The Ukrainian military worked in concert, and many units of enemy equipment were destroyed on the approaches to the settlement. As for the enemy troops, the offensive effort involved infantry, special operations forces, assault troops, and the Chechen units.
